What to prepare for a cake smash photography session?
Preparing for the session is fairly simple. You want the occasion to be of significance, so make sure all his favourites are captured on the lens.
- Get his favourite toys to the shoot. They add sentimental value to the pictures and also keep the child steady in between shots.
- Create a festive environment. Some ideas are : helium balloons, party hats, confetti, bubbles, basic triangular flag and the likes.
- Get a cake, attractive and tasty for the baby to smash. Light coloured frosting is better captured on the screen as opposed to chocolate or darker shades.
- It is advisable to get the baby familiar with the texture and taste of cakes at home so he isn’t reluctant to explore.
- It is advisable to get a big towel to wrap the child after the session so he doesn’t stain other stuff.
- Make sure the dress for the smash is comfortable. Some parents will only have the baby wearing the diaper only. A baby at ease will appear much more candid in pictures. Bring a change of clothes if your baby is smashing in a dress.
